The birding and wildlife trails of Texas are driving routes developed to help promote ecotourism. Each of the trail maps is divided into loops that could be completed in a long weekend. I have chosen to explore more slowly and visit just a few sites on each trip.
The numbered sites along the trails are recommended places to stop, but they are not the only spots to find wildlife. I have already published posts featuring parks not listed as official sites, but where rare birds have recently been seen or just happen to be places I enjoy visiting.
Instead of repetitively listing the names of each trail on every post, I have chosen to list the site number only. The letters that preface the numbers denote which trail.
UTC = The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail Upper Texas Coast

LTC = The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail Upper Texas Coast

HOTW = Heart of Texas Wildlife Trail - West
PHP = Panhandle Plains Wildlife Trail
FWTX = Far West Texas Wildlife Trail
PPW-E = Prairies and Pineywoods Wildlife Trail - East
PPW-W = Prairies and Pineywoods Wildlife Trail - West
